"That I may know Him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death." Phil.3:10
Modern Christian artists consider themselves gods, which is essentially “an idolatry of creativity. The point of creating a work of art is ‘the shock of the new,’ creating something that hasn’t been created before, or doing something that hasn’t been done before.”

So how does it feel to be back home in Munday?
Hmmmm.....
I have lived in lots of places and I must admit I like being close to Target and Hobby Lobby. A small town is hardly a place for excitement... I don't think I would have moved here when I was younger. But now, with my family, I feel really centered...here is a poem I wrote about 9 years ago that says what I mean...
EXPOSURE
Opened my eyes too wide---broke my daydreamer
Saw too much---my pen wilted
Heard too much--my music died
Felt too much--closed the window
There is a traffic jam in Wishland
And I’ve decided to slip back down
To Cherish Town
Where I will trade my pen
For a hand in my own.
At rest and peace, I realize for once
That my greatest achievement
Is not really all that remarkable...
I find no need to make an immortal mark
I simply remember to make my bed more often...

After several years of sleep-walking in a state of dream and wonder, so happy to be "home", I now find myself at the point you've written about in your poem. I'm disillusioned and sad about the apathy, complacency, and the Godless living of many of our community.
I'm soul-searching. Maybe the problem lies within myself.
In spite of no Hobby Lobby or Target, I still wouldn't live anyplace else. Munday is my roots.
And, by the way, I LOVE having you home!!
Hey Sweetie, your blog is really cool. I am impressed, not bad for a "not so wild yet wild child" come home. Love you dear one, and noticed you have looked at my blog. I was going to send you a notice that i had opened one, but you beat me to it.
ReplyDeleteYou are a gifted poet. More please.
